Describe John Locke's social contract theory. Why did the founders of our Constitution support Locke's philosophy?

He went further into that and said that everyone has the right to revolt if their rights are not being held up by the choosen government. The writers saw that their rights were being threatened and saw that John Locke's ideas were the best in for them in their situation. So, they took his ideas and created their own government.

John Locke's social contract theory states that if the government didn't protect our natural rights of life, liberty, and property, that we, the governed, had a right to overthrow the government and set up a new government that would protect our natural rights. The founders of our Constitution supported Locke's theory because they claimed Britain hadn't protected their natural rights and wanted overthrow their corrupt government and set up a new one. Locke's theory gave the founders the right to do that.
